Despite Facing Facial Deformities, This Petite Feline Always Wears A Cheerful Smile

In Philadelphia, a couple of rescuers experienced relief as a mama cat guided them to her hidden litter of four kittens.

Little did they know, an extraordinary surprise awaited them.
As they peered into the box, their hearts skipped a beat.
Among the kittens, one stood out like no other…

On a warm and cloudy summer day in Philadelphia, Kris and Kia Papiernik, founders of Kolony Kats, stumbled upon something astonishing.

Dedicated to caring for numerous cat colonies through trap, neuter/spay, and return (TNR), Kris and Kia were on their way to feed one of the colonies when they noticed something unusual.

A captivating cat crossed their path, one they had never encountered before.

"Whenever we spot a cat, we always pull over, provide food, and inquire with the neighbors to determine if the cat has an owner or caretaker. We offer assistance and share TNR resources," the Papierniks explained.

Upon approaching the cat, Kris and Kia realized that this was no ordinary feline – it was a nursing mama cat!

The mama cat displayed a friendly yet cautious demeanor.

Now, Kris and Kia faced another mystery: Where were her precious offspring?

The Papierniks fed the mama cat on the sidewalk and quietly observed from a distance, hoping she would lead them to her kittens.

"This is our typical approach when we come across a nursing mama cat. We provide them with food and observe from afar because after they eat, most mother cats return to tend to their kittens," the Papierniks shared.

True to their expectations, the mama cat guided them directly to her kittens!

Kris and Kia watched as she approached a front porch.

Approaching the porch, they noticed several boxes and scattered debris.

When they peered inside one of the boxes, they found four adorable, fuzzy kittens!

"The homeowner informed us that the mama cat was a local stray who had given birth to several litters over the years. She had always chosen their porch as a safe spot to raise her kittens."

But this time, Kolony Kats was there to rescue them! It was a stroke of luck for this mama cat.

However, one particular kitten captured their attention…

Kris and Kia carefully scooped up the mama cat and her kittens, making arrangements to take them to the veterinarian.

Fortunately, both the mama cat and her kittens were in good health.

The tiniest kitten, named Korduroy, had one eye missing and a lifted upper lip, which exposed some of his teeth and gums.

Upon consulting with the vet, they learned that Korduroy had a cleft lip and anophthalmia (the absence of one eye).

The good news was that Korduroy was healthy and didn't require any medical intervention – his condition was purely cosmetic!

Kris and Kia affectionately referred to him as a tiny pirate. With his single eye and cleft lip, he resembled a pirate exclaiming, "Argh!"

Korduroy and his siblings were estimated to be around 3-4 weeks old.

Their mother would continue to care for them until they were able to stand on their own.

The mama cat was overjoyed to raise her kittens in a secure environment!

"Korduroy may have been the smallest of the litter, but his siblings and mother treated him no differently. He shared with National Kitty.

Like most wild-born kittens, Korduroy initially had some wariness toward humans.

When Kris and Kia picked him up, he let out a small hiss, but soon he melted into their arms.

Korduroy quickly won the hearts of everyone he met.

He became an instant sensation on the internet!

Thousands of Kolony Kats fans couldn't resist his adorable wink and charming smile. People simply couldn't get enough of him.

Though small in size, Korduroy had a big personality.

"He's all kitten! He loves to eat, play, and explore. He's incredibly curious," Kris and Kia revealed.

Korduroy also knew how to work his charm. He had a unique way of getting what he wanted!

"He's incredibly sweet and vocal. If he doesn't get his way, he'll let you know!" the Papierniks shared.

When Korduroy wasn't bouncing around with joy, he enjoyed relaxing and cuddling with his siblings and foster family.

Korduroy's mother and siblings have been spayed/neutered and found their forever homes.

As the smallest of the litter, Korduroy hasn't reached the weight required for neutering.

For now, this little pirate will be pampered by his foster family, indulging in delicious treats and snacks until he's ready for the procedure.

When the time comes, this special boy will be adopted by an equally special family.

Korduroy continues to bring joy and capture the hearts of everyone he encounters.

Little Korduroy has now found a loving family to call his own.
