Rescue Cute Cat With Duct Tape Wrapped Tightly Around His Neck, Helpless Wandering the Streets

Seeing the cat's badly infected neck, Saxelby cried. She couldn't imagine the pain he was going through. In addition, the injured cat was thin and dehydrated, unable to drink or eat well because the tape was tightly wrapped around his neck.

It's Valentine's Day. However, instead of spending the day talking about their love for another human, Kimberly Saxelby and Chris Gattas spent the day talking about caring for animals in need.

They found a cute stray ginger cat who was spotted living on the streets in a neighborhood in California with a large empty tape roll over his neck. He was in pain and looked very uncomfortable. The cat had been lying in the shade under a parked car for about an hour.

"When we arrived we set a trap just two feet away from him while he lay under a car, we waited for an hour but we figured out that he was not going in because of the tape roll on his head so we had no choice but to try and catch him with our nets. After chasing him for a while and cornering him into an old shed that is when Chris was able to catch him with the pole net as he tried to run out,"

What they found after he was arrested shocked both of them. The poor animal had a roll of duct tape fixed around its neck, apparently, someone had done this, causing the furry friend to be in great pain for a long time.

It had been there too long, the smell of rotten flesh emanating from the wound.

The animal control facility tried to arrest him but failed because he was extremely afraid of humans, so the scroll kept wrapping around his neck day after day, week after week.

They then took the cat to Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter to be treated for its injuries. Saxelby recalls: “After the sedation, we all had no idea how bad his condition was until we cut the tape off his neck.

Fortunately, the vets were able to treat the wound around his neck and on his ears, and after that, he was on his way to recovery. In honor of the day he was saved, the ginger cat was named Valentine.

A few days after being rescued, Valentine began to recover. At first, Valentine was grumpy and defensive, but gradually, he began to trust humans more as he was placed in foster care.

“The adoptive mother was able to pat him on the head and let's just say it made us so happy!!” Saxelby wrote on the Saving Sweet Valentine Facebook page. With so many TLCs, Valentine adjusts pretty quickly. He loves sleeping in his favorite spot - the sink!

Valentine has been through a lot of pain and Saxelby hopes he can find the loving home he truly deserves.

Finally, Saxelby announced in a Facebook post, “Valentine has found her forever loving home, and the best part is with her adoptive mother April Glatzel, sweetheart. love him…”

Just look how handsome he is now! Thank you to Saxelby, Glatzel, and all the other rescuers for giving Valentine a second chance at life!
